Have you been thinking about writing a blog for your business but not sure if it’s worth it? Perfect! I’ll share a few tips that will clear up any doubt you may have about starting a blog. Grab a notebook and pen to jot these down:

Builds Traffic

Not highway traffic (something we ALL love), but traffic that builds your business!

If you aren’t a fan of actively updating your website content then featuring snippets of your blog content on your homepage can help eliminate some of the “stale” factors. It’s an opportunity to keep your website fresh to consumers and search engines. Once your blog starts to gain traction and the amount of visitors increase, you’ll have a chance to link internally to other parts of your website creating even more traffic.

Sharing your blog post via social media channels can also be helpful in driving traffic. If you have a strong following, your post can become viral. Meaning, it can be shared multiple times by multiple users and you wouldn’t have to spend a dime.

Show-Off Your Brand Personality

At times, your “About” page just isn’t enough to sell someone on your goods and/or services. In order to be trustworthy, your brand must have a voice. A blog shows that you aren’t just a tie-wearing robot executive behind the curtain but a real person ready to help them.

This is a great opportunity for your audience to get to know you. Avoid a boring, black and white business blog by adding your own color. In other words, show your personality and humor where appropriate. This will give your blog individuality and approachability for your audience. So don’t be afraid to scribe about your passion in your subject of expertise or what inspires you.

Become The Industry Expert

Here’s your chance to show your consumer that you are the know-it-all in your field. Show them that you are the go-to person and worth their time. Illustrate that you have the experience, knowledge and aren’t messing around. Ensure that your content is high-quality, relevant, useful, consistent and well written.

By blogging, you can keep your consumers up to date on what you have been up to (work wise, of course). It makes them feel as if you are speaking to them directly and bringing value to their life. Writing a blog on “How I Spent My Vacation With My Pet Turtle” may not be enriching enough to some viewers. But hey, if that’s your area of expertise – go for it!

Don’t stress out if writing isn’t your thing because you can hire a freelance writer to handle it for you. As long as they understand the voice of your brand, you are good to go!

Lastly, remember to be patient. Starting a successful blog takes time but once you start reaping the benefits, you’ll realize it was all worth it.
